Sanghoon is an emerging composer, who has brought up in South Korea and reside in Australia.

Sanghoon Lee

Sanghoon Lee is a composer, guitarist and sound artist who was brought up in South Korea. Strongly influenced by his father, an amateur yet passionate guitarist, he taught himself the instrument from a young age. Later, his interest in music further developed and led him to seek professional training as a guitarist. He was awarded multiple prizes in competitions and began training in classical guitar with scholarship 2019 Bachelor of Music Scholarship at Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. Since 2020, Sanghoon has been studying the art of composition with many of the leading composers of Australia, such as Melody Eotvos, Christine McCombe and Miriama Young. He has been creating immersive works by exploring and enrapturing various genres, in such he was awarded the 2020 Ormond Exhibitions Scholarship. Currently, he has been working as a music therapist who performs concerts for those who are disadvantaged or may not otherwise be able to attend a concert.

Sanghoon’s primary contention is to communicate and to tell a story through a unique and peculiar sound world. His works are often infused with multiple genres and soundscapes to create new listening experiences. As such, Sanghoon continues engaging with immersive sounds. His works often directly quote or conceptualise the sound from nature and daily life.
